Das S AM Schweizerisches Architekturmuseum ist die führende Institution für die Vermittlung von zeitgenössischer Architektur und Baukultur in der Schweiz. Das S AM versteht sich als eine gesamtschweizerisch verankerte Plattform mit internationaler Ausstrahlung.

Zusammen mit einem engagierten Team formen Sie die Ausrichtung des Museums und entwickeln die inhaltliche Strategie weiter. Sie kuratieren Ausstellungen, positionieren und vertreten das Museum in der Öffentlichkeit und zeichnen für Publikationen verantwortlich.
Als eine gut vernetzte Persönlichkeit sind Sie mit der schweizerischen Architekturkultur bestens vertraut und kennen sich auch in der internationalen Architekturszene hervorragend aus. Der Kulturstandort Basel ist Ihnen vertraut. Erfahrung in der Konzeption, Planung und Realisierung von Ausstellungen und der Architekturvermittlung im Rahmen von Publikationen und dem öffentlichen Diskurs werden erwartet.
Sie haben die Fähigkeit, Mitarbeiter*innen zu führen und zu fördern sowie sie durch Delegation von Aufgaben, klaren Zielsetzungen und Entscheidungen zu motivieren. Sie vertreten das Museum nach aussen und handeln im Rahmen der strategischen Vorgaben des Stiftungsrats, dem die Gesamtverantwortung obliegt.
Sie engagieren sich aktiv für die finanzielle Sicherheit des Museums, indem Sie tragfähige Finanzierungskonzepte entwickeln und Fördermittel gezielt akquirieren.
Die deutsche und englische Sprache wird vorausgesetzt, Kenntnisse in weiteren Landessprachen sind von Vorteil.

Director
Together with a dedicated team, you will shape the direction of the museum and further develop its content strategy. You will curate exhibitions, position and represent the museum in public, and be responsible for publications.
You bring a wide network with you, are familiar with Swiss architectural culture, and have excellent knowledge of the international architecture scene. You are also familiar with the cultural landscape of Basel. Experience in the conception, planning, and realization of exhibitions as well as the communication of architecture through publications and public discourse are expected.
You have the ability to lead, develop, and motivate employees by delegating tasks, setting clear objectives, and making decisions. You represent the museum externally and act within the strategic framework defined by the Board of Trustees, which holds overall responsibility for the museum.
You are actively committed to the financial security of the museum by developing viable funding concepts and strategically acquiring grants and sponsorships.
Knowledge of German and English are a must, with knowledge additional national languages of Switzerland an advantage.
