<technologyDescriptionAndIncludedProcesses xml:lang="en">Manufacturing Swisspearl Slates are manufactured with Hatschek technology. A very thin slurry of water, binder and fibres is mixed and introduced into each of the vats of the Hatschek machine. The rotating sieve cylinder in the vats collects a thin layer of solid material that is further dewatered as it is transferred to a felt and further on to an accumulating format roller. At the required thickness, the accumulated layers are automatically cut into the required product size, and transferred into the pre-curing area. After pre-curing, the products are stored under continued control of temperature and humidity. The main constituents of Swisspearl Slates are as followed: Portland Cement: 75-80% Inert filler: 15-25% Cellulose: 2-4% PVA: 1-3% Paint: 0-2%Material explanation Portland Cement: Manufactured according to /DIN EN 197-1/ from limestone, marl and sand. The material is crushed, dried, calcinated to clinker and ground to cement. Inert filler: a filler to optimize deformation properties and material bonding. Cellulose Fibres (0.5-3mm): To assure collection of powder during filtration. PVA fibres (4-6mm): Synthetic Polyvinyl alcohol fibre used as reinforcement.There are no substances of very high concern (SVHC) present in the product according to according to Regulation (EC) No.1907/2006 (REACH)

Materialerklärung
Portlandzement: Hergestellt nach /DIN EN 197-1/ aus Kalkstein, Mergel und Sand. Das Material wird zerkleinert, getrocknet, zu Klinker kalziniert und zu Zement gemahlen.
Inerter Füllstoff: ein Füllstoff zur Optimierung der Verformungseigenschaften und der Materialbindung.
Zellulosefasern (0,5–3 mm): Um die Sammlung des Pulvers während der Filtration sicherzustellen.
PVA-Fasern (4–6 mm): Synthetische Polyvinylalkohol-Fasern, die als Verstärkung verwendet werden.
Gemäß der Verordnung (EG) Nr. 1907/2006 (REACH) sind im Produkt keine besonders besorgniserregenden Stoffe (SVHC) enthalten.

Herstellung
Swisspearl-Schieferplatten werden mit der Hatschek-Technologie hergestellt. Eine sehr dünne Aufschlämmung aus Wasser, Bindemittel und Fasern wird gemischt und in jeden Bottich der Hatschek-Maschine gefüllt. Der rotierende Siebzylinder in den Bottichen sammelt eine dünne Schicht Feststoff, die weiter entwässert wird, während sie auf einen Filz und weiter auf eine Stauformatwalze übertragen wird. Bei der erforderlichen Dicke werden die angesammelten Schichten automatisch auf die erforderliche Produktgröße geschnitten und in den Vorhärtungsbereich übertragen. Nach der Vorhärtung werden die Produkte unter ständiger Kontrolle von Temperatur und Luftfeuchtigkeit gelagert.

System boundary: 
The modules considered in this EPD follow a cradle-to-grave assessment: A1-A5, B1-B7, C1-C4, D. A1 -The system boundary includes the provision and processing of raw materials. These include in particular cement, plastic fibres, pulp and packaging materials.A2 -The transports to the manufacturer were specifically collected for all starting materials. A3 -The production includes all in-plant energy consumption (gas + electricity), as well as water used in the production process, and production waste.A4 -The transport, part of the construction process, is an average of the total distance of all products delivered to the point of installation. This is calculated to be 1964 km.A5 -All environmental impacts associated with the disposal of packaging handled at the construction site are accounted for. It is assumed incinerated at an incineration plant. Furthermore, environmental impacts associated with trucks and fuel for the construction installation are included.B1-B7 modules are included, however, no significant environmental impact is associated with the use phase of the product.C1 -Accounts for the environmental impacts associated with dismantling and demolition of the fibre cement boards. Fuel used for demolition equipment and transport on site vehicles.C2 -Transportation of the discarded products from the construction site to a landfilling site. The transport is estimated to be 100 km in an average truck.C3- The fibre cement boards are sent to landfill and therefore there are no environmental impacts associated with waste processing of materials flows intended for reuse, recycling or energy recovery. C4 -Environmental impacts associated with the processes at the landfill.D -The fibre cement boards are sent to landfill after use. Therefore, the applied model does not contain any allocation. Allocation for waste materialsPre-processing waste (plastics) is sent to a waste incineration plant. The resulting electrical and thermal energy is credited in module A1. For the waste incineration plant an R1-value of above 0.6 is assumed.Cut-off criteriaAll raw materials used, utilized thermal energy, and electric power consumption of the production process are considered in this assessment. A1 – Die Systemgrenze umfasst die Bereitstellung und Verarbeitung von Rohstoffen. Hierzu zählen insbesondere Zement, Kunststofffasern, Zellstoff und Verpackungsmaterialien.

A2 - Die Transporte zum Hersteller wurden für alle Ausgangsstoffe gezielt erfasst.

A3 – Die Produktion umfasst auch den gesamten betriebsinternen Energieverbrauch (Gas + Strom) sowie das im Produktionsprozess verwendete Wasser und Produktionsabfälle.

A4 – Der Transport, Teil des Bauprozesses, ist ein Durchschnitt der Gesamtentfernung aller bis zum Installationsort gelieferten Produkte. Dies wird auf 1964 km berechnet.

A5 - Alle Umweltauswirkungen, die mit der Entsorgung der auf der Baustelle anfallenden Verpackungen verbunden sind, werden berücksichtigt. Es wird davon ausgegangen, dass es in einer Müllverbrennungsanlage verbrannt wird. Darüber hinaus sind Umweltauswirkungen durch Lkw und Treibstoff für die Bauanlage enthalten.

Die Module B1–B7 sind enthalten, jedoch sind in der Nutzungsphase des Produkts keine wesentlichen Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt verbunden.

C1 – Berücksichtigt die Umweltauswirkungen im Zusammenhang mit der Demontage und dem Abriss der Faserzementplatten. Kraftstoff für Abbruchgeräte und Transportfahrzeuge auf der Baustelle.

C2 – Transport der entsorgten Produkte von der Baustelle zur Deponie. Der Transport wird mit einem durchschnittlichen LKW auf 100 km geschätzt.

C3 – Umweltbelastung durch die Verbrennung des Produkts im End-of-Life-Szenario.

C4 – Umweltauswirkungen im Zusammenhang mit den Prozessen auf der Deponie.

D – Die Faserzementplatten werden nach Gebrauch auf die Mülldeponie verbracht. Das Produkt hat daher in dieser Phase keine Auswirkungen und keine damit verbundenen Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt. Es wird erwartet, dass die Boards im Laufe der Zeit wiederverwendbar sind, dies ist jedoch in dieser Bewertung nicht berücksichtigt. Dabei wurden Verbrennungsgutschriften berücksichtigt und die daraus resultierenden Gutschriften für thermische und elektrische Energie deklariert.</useAdviceForDataSet>
