<technologyDescriptionAndIncludedProcesses xml:lang="de">Rockpanel Steinwolle-Fassadenplatten sind vorgefertigte Produkte aus komprimierter Mineralwolle mit wärmehärtenden Bindemitteln, die traditionell aus vulkanischem Gestein (typischerweise Basalt oder Dolomit) und aus recyceltem Material hergestellt und mit einer ausgehärteten (wasserbasierten) Beschichtung versehen werden. Das spezifische Produkt, auf das sich die angegebene Einheit bezieht, ist 1 m2 Rockpanel Durable Verkleidungsplatte mit einer Dicke von 8 mm und einer Dichte von 1050 kg/m3. Während des Herstellungsprozesses werden die Steinrohstoffe in einem Ofen bei hohen Temperaturen von ca. 1.400-1.500°C geschmolzen und durch Walzendrehen ausgefranst. Die LCA-Ergebnisse decken alle relevanten Lebenszyklusphasen von der Wiege bis zur Bahre ab. Produktionsphase, einschließlich der Beschaffungsprozesse von Rohstoffen und Zwischenprodukten sowie der Verarbeitung von Sekundärmaterialien, die als Einsatzstoffe verwendet werden, deren Transport zum Werk und die Produktion einschließlich aller Hilfsstoffe, Energieeinsatz sowie die Abfallbehandlung und Entsorgung von Restabfällen, die während der Produktion anfallen. Weiterhin werden die Module A4 (Transport zur Baustelle), A5 (Montage), B1 (Wartung), C1 (Rückbau), C2 (Transport), C3 (Abfallbehandlung), C4 (Entsorgung) und D (Nutzen) angegeben. This declaration refers to Rockpanel Natural Durable cladding panels in 10 and 8 mm, produced by Rockpanel, a member of ROCKWOOL Group. The declared reference product in this EPD is 1m2 Rockpanel Natural Durable 10 mm Cladding Panel for facade cladding, roof detailing, soffits and fascias.
The Rockpanel products presented in this declaration are produced in Roermond (Netherlands), and intended to be sold in the European Market. For the Rockpanel Natural Durable 8 mm cladding panel, the environmental impacts and indicators are determined by applying the appropriate scaling factor (please refer to section "Technical Data" for guidance).
The production data correspond to the full year 2022.

System boundary:
EPD type: Cradle to gate with options, modules C1–C4, and module D. The modules considered in the life cycle assessment as per system boundaries are described as follows:
Production
The product stage A1-A3 includes:
Provision of preliminary products and energy and relevant upstream processes;

 * Transporting the raw materials and preliminary materials to ROCKWOOL production facilities;
 * Production process in the ROCKWOOL production facilities including energy inputs and emissions;
 * Electricity consumption, from purchased Renewable Energy Certificates (REC);
 * Waste processing up to the end-of-waste state or disposal of waste residues, during the production stage;
 * Production of packaging material;
 * Manufacturing of products and co-product.

The environmental impact of co-products from the steel and coal fired electricity production (slags, alumina and ashes entering the system as inputs to the manufacturing) is accounted for. Recycled stone wool comes free of environmental burden, as it enters the product system as waste. Their transport to the factory is accounted for. Modules A1, A2 and A3 are declared as an aggregated module A1-A3.

Construction/Installation
The Construction Stage A4-A5 includes:

 * A4 transport to the building site
 * A5 installation to the building

The transport in A4 is modelled based on the amount of panels that fit in the truck. The values are based on annual average delivery data. In A5 the default installation is assumed to be manual, therefore no energy consumption or ancillary equipment is needed. The product waste from installation is assumed to be 5% and according to the modularity principle of EN 15804, its impacts are fully allocated to A5.
The A5 stage, according to EN 15804 includes also waste processing up to the end-of-waste state or disposal of final residues during the construction process stage and impacts and aspects related to product losses during installation.
Finally, the A5 module includes also the corresponding end-of-life considerations for packaging. The default assumption here for installation waste is 100% landfill.

Building Use
The use-stage B1-B7, related to the building fabric
includes:

 * B1 – Use or application of the installed product;
 * B2 – Maintenance;
 * B3 – Repair;
 * B4 – Replacement;
 * B5 – Refurbishment;
 * B6 – Operational energy use;
 * B7 – Operational water use;

Rockpanel Stone wool cladding panel is installed permanently in the structure and does not require maintenance, repair, replacement or refurbishment under normal use conditions. Similarly, Rockpanel has no operational energy or water use. Functionality is maintained usually for 60 years when coating is present, or 25 years for Rockpanel Natural Durable. This, as mentioned earlier can be backed up by the independent accelerated Durability Test by Bouw Technologie and also by the product specific ETA.

End of Life
The End-of-life stage C1-C4 includes:

 * C1 de-construction, demolition;
 * C2 transport to waste processing;
 * C3 waste processing for reuse, recovery and/or recycling;
 * C4 disposal.

These stages also include provision and all transport, provision of all materials, products and related energy and water use. Manual deconstruction is assumed for C1 and no impacts are assigned. The benefits from disposal (heat or electricity recovery) are assigned to module D.

Module D includes reuse, recovery and/or recycling potentials expressed as net loads and benefits. Here the loads from the packaging disposal in A5 and from electricity generation on landfill are considered.

Das deklarierte Referenzprodukt in diesem EPD ist 1m2 Rockpanel Natural Durable 10 mm Cladding Panel für Fassadenverkleidung, Dachverkleidung, Soffits und Fascias.
Die in dieser Deklaration dargestellten Rockpanel-Produkte werden in Roermond (Niederlande) hergestellt und sollen auf dem europäischen Markt verkauft werden. Für das Rockpanel Natural Durable 8 mm-Verkleidungspanel werden die Umweltwirkungen und Indikatoren durch Anwendung des entsprechenden Skalierungsfaktors bestimmt (siehe Abschnitt „Technische Daten“ für Hinweise).
Die Produktionsdaten beziehen sich auf das vollständige Jahr 2022.

Systemgrenze:
EPD-Typ: Cradle to Gate mit Optionen, Module C1–C4 und Modul D. Die im Lebenszyklusbewertungsprozess gemäß Systemgrenze berücksichtigten Module werden wie folgt beschrieben:
Herstellung
Die Produktstufe A1-A3 umfasst:
Bereitstellung von Vorprodukten und Energie sowie relevante Upstream-Prozesse;

 * Transport der Rohmaterialien und Vorprodukte zu ROCKWOOL-Produktionsanlagen;
 * Herstellungsprozess in den ROCKWOOL-Produktionsanlagen einschließlich Energiezufuhr und Emissionen;
 * Stromverbrauch, belegt durch gekaufte Renewable Energy Certificates (REC);
 * Abfallbehandlung bis zum End-of-Waste-Status oder Entsorgung von Abfallrückständen während der Produktionsphase;
 * Herstellung von Verpackungsmaterial;
 * Herstellung von Produkten und Nebenprodukten.

Die Umweltwirkungen von Nebenprodukten aus der Stahl- und kohlebetriebenen Stromerzeugung (Schlacken, Aluminiumoxid und Aschen, die als Eingaben in die Herstellung in das System gelangen) werden berücksichtigt. Recycelte Steinwolle belastet die Umwelt nicht zusätzlich, da sie als Abfall in das Produktssystem eingeht. Ihr Transport zur Fabrik wird berücksichtigt. Module A1, A2 und A3 werden als aggregiertes Modul A1-A3 ausgewiesen.

Bau-/Montagephase
Die Bau-/Montagephase A4-A5 umfasst:

 * A4 Transport zum Bauort
 * A5 Montage am Gebäude

Der Transport in A4 wird auf Basis der Menge der Paneele modelliert, die in den LKW passen. Die Werte basieren auf jährlichen Durchschnittslieferdaten. In A5 wird standardmäßig eine manuelle Installation angenommen, daher sind kein Energieverbrauch oder Hilfsgeräte erforderlich. Der Produktabfall durch die Installation wird mit 5 % angenommen und gemäß dem Modulationsprinzip von EN 15804 vollständig dem A5-Modul zugeordnet.
Die A5-Phase umfasst gemäß EN 15804 auch Abfallbehandlung bis zum End-of-Waste-Status oder Entsorgung von Endresiduen während der Bauphase sowie Auswirkungen und Aspekte im Zusammenhang mit Produktverlusten während der Installation.
Schließlich umfasst das A5-Modul auch die entsprechenden End-of-Life-Überlegungen für Verpackungen. Die Standardannahme für Installationsabfall hier ist 100 % Deponierung.

Bau-/Nutzungsphase
Die Nutzungsphase B1-B7, bezogen auf die Gebäudebauwerk:
 * B1 – Nutzung bzw. Anwendung des installierten Produkts;
 * B2 – Wartung;
 * B3 – Instandsetzung;
 * B4 – Austausch;
 * B5 – Modernisierung;
 * B6 – Betriebsenergieverbrauch;
 * B7 – Betriebswasserverbrauch;

Rockpanel Steinwoll-Verkleidungspanel wird dauerhaft in der Struktur installiert und erfordert unter normalen Nutzungsbedingungen weder Wartung noch Reparatur, Austausch oder Modernisierung. Ebenso weist Rockpanel keinen Betriebsenergie- oder Wasserverbrauch auf. Die Funktionalität wird in der Regel 60 Jahre bei vorhandener Beschichtung aufrechterhalten, bzw. 25 Jahre für Rockpanel Natural Durable. Dies kann, wie bereits erwähnt, durch den unabhängigen beschleunigten Haltbarkeitstest von Bouw Technologie sowie durch die produktspezifische ETA belegt werden.

End of Life
Die End-of-Life-Phase C1-C4 umfasst:

 * C1 Abbruch, Demontage;
 * C2 Transport zur Abfallverarbeitung;
 * C3 Abfallbehandlung zur Wiederverwendung, Verwertung und/oder Recycling;
 * C4 Entsorgung.

Diese Phasen umfassen auch Beschaffung und sämtlichen Transport, Bereitstellung aller Materialien, Produkte sowie den damit verbundenen Energie- und Wasserverbrauch. Für C1 wird ein manueller Abbruch angenommen und keine Auswirkungen zugeordnet. Die Vorteile aus der Entsorgung (Wärme- oder Stromrückgewinnung) werden dem Modul D zugeordnet.

Modul D umfasst Wiederverwendung, Verwertung und/oder Recyclingpotenziale, ausgedrückt als Netto-Belastungen und -Vorteile. Hierbei werden die Belastungen aus der Entsorgung von Verpackungen in A5 und aus der Stromerzeugung auf der Deponie berücksichtigt.

Das Produktsystem mit der Systemgrenze wird in der folgenden Abbildung dargestellt:
