The polymer concrete is made from aggregates (additives) and calcium carbonate. An unsaturated polyester resin is used as binder.
This EPD is representative of all polymer concrete products made by MEA Group GmbH.0Die einzelnen Bestandteile werden der Gießmaschine über Leitungs- und Fördersysteme zugeführt. Hier werden die Bestandteile in einem Extruder über einen Schneckenmischer vermengt und in Gießformen ausgegeben. Die Gießformen bewegen sich auf einer geschlossenen Bahn, werden nach ca. 20 Minuten geöffnet und das Produkt entformt. Die Form verbleibt auf der Bahn, wird gereinigt und wieder der Gießmaschine zugeführt.
Technische Daten:
Produkte aus Polymerbeton sind bis auf Entwsserungsrinnen nicht genormt. Diese werden gem EN 1433 gefertigt. Bezglich der erforderlichen Leistungserklrung sind folgende bautechnische Daten relevant:
Deklarierte Einheit:
Die deklarierte Einheit ist auf 1 m Produkt aus Polymerbeton festgelegt.Sand, calcium carbonate, unsaturated polyester resin and traces of a cobalt styrene solution as well as peroxide as an accelerator/retarder are used to manufacture the products. The individual components are fed to the casting machine via pipe and conveyor systems. Here, the components are mixed in an extruder via a screw mixer and dispensed into molds prepared with release agent. The casting molds move on a closed track, are opened after approx. 20 minutes and the product is demolded. The mold remains on the track, is cleaned and fed back into the casting machine. Products made of polymer concrete can be cast individually, meaning that numerous dimensions and shapes of products are possible. Products made of polymer concrete are suitable for surface drainage of traffic areas, among other things, but are also widely used in the construction industry for various purposes, e.g. as foot scraper boxes, etc.

Except for gutters, polymer concrete products are not standardized. They are produced according to EN 1433.

A1–A3
Das Modul A1 umfasst alle relevanten Prozesse, die zur Bereitstellung der Rohstoffe und Vorprodukte notwendig sind. Als Produktionsstandorte der Vorprodukte wird Deutschland sowie weitere Lnder Europas angesetzt. Das Modul A2 bildet alle relevanten Transportprozesse der Rohstoffe und Vorprodukte zum Produktionsstandort ab, es werden LKWs sowie ein Containerschiff eingesetzt. Das Modul A3 beschreibt die Herstellung des deklarierten Produktes am Produktionsstandort. Bei der Herstellung des Produkts wird Strom eingesetzt. Zudem werden Trennmittel und Reinigungsmittel bentigt. Ebenfalls wird in A3 die Herstellung der Verpackung (Holzpalette, PET-Umreifungsband) deklariert. Bruch und technischer Ausschuss sind bercksichtigt.
A4–A5
Das Modul A4 beschreibt den durchschnittlichen Transport des Produktes vom Produktionsstandort zur Baustelle. Die Produkte aus Polymerbeton werden europaweit vertrieben (vgl. Kap. 4, "Transport zur Baustelle (A4)"). Das Modul A5 beschreibt den Einbau des Produktes in das Gebude. Die deklarierten Produkte knnen in der Regel hndisch und ohne Einsatz groer Maschinen verlegt und eingebaut werden. Es sind keine Material- und Energieflsse notwendig. Zustzlich erfolgt die Trennung des Produktes von der Verpackung mit anschlieendem Transport zur Entsorgungsstelle. Die anteilige Holzpalette wird verbrannt, resultierende kologische Vorteile werden in Modul D ausgewiesen. Der R1-Wert der Verbrennungsanlage liegt unter 0,6. Das PET-Umreifungsband wird als Plastikabfall verbrannt (vgl. Kap 4, "Einbau ins Gebude (A5)").
C1–C4
Das Modul C1 umfasst den Rckbau des Produktes. Analog zum Einbau, kann das Produkt hndisch bzw. ohne Einsatz schwerer Maschinen rausgebrochen werden. Es sind keine Material- und Energieflsse notwendig. Das Modul C2 bildet den Transport zur Abfallbehandlung (Modul C3) ab. Das Modul C3 bildet die Abfallbehandlung zur Wiederverwendung, Rckgewinnung und/oder zum Recycling ab. Zur Weiterverwendung des Polymerbetons als Schttgut/Unterbaumaterial im Straenbau wird dieses entsprechend zerkleinert (vgl Kap. 4, "Ende des Lebenswegs (C1–C4)").
D
Modul D umfasst Wiederverwendungs-, Rckgewinnungs- und/oder Recyclingpotenziale. Diese werden als Nettoflsse und Vorteile angegeben. Betroffen sind hierbei die Vermeidung von Primrmaterial durch die Bereitstellung von Schotter sowie resultierende kologische Vorteile aus der thermischen Verwertung der Holzpalette und des PET-Umreifungsband (vgl. Kap. 4, "Wiederverwendungs-, Rckgewinnungs- und Recyclingpotential (D), relevante Szenarioangaben").Scope:

A1–A3
Module A1 encompasses all relevant processes required for the provision of raw materials and upstream products. Germany and other countries of Europe are assumed to be production sites for upstream products. Module A2 represents all relevant transportation processes of the raw materials or upstream products to the production site; trucks and a container vessel are used. Module A3 describes the production of the declared product at the production site. Electricity is used to make the product. Release agents and cleaning agents are also required. In A3, the manufacture of the packaging (wooden pallet, PET barrel hoop) is also declared. Rubble and technical waste are taken into consideration
A4–A5
Module A4 describes the average transportation of the product from the production site to the construction site. The polymer concrete products are sold throughout Europe (cf. Section 4, "Transport from the gate to the site (A4)"). Module A5 describes the installation of the product in the building. Normally, the declared products can be placed and installed manually and without the use of large machinery. No material or energy flows are required. In addition, the product is separated from the packaging which is then transported to the point of disposal. The proportionate wooden pallet is burnt, any resulting ecological benefits are shown in Module D. The R1 value of the incinerator is below 0.6. The PET barrel hoop is incinerated as plastic waste (cf. Section 4, "Assembly ( A5)").
C1–C4
Module C1 encompasses the demolition of the product. Similar to installation, the product can be removed manually or without the use of heavy machinery. No material or energy flows are required. Module C2 describes the transportation to waste treatment (Module C3). Module C3 describes the waste treatment for reuse, recovery and / or recycling. To reuse the polymer concrete as bulk material / subgrade material in road construction, the material is crushed accordingly (cf. Section 4, "End of life stage (C1–C4)").
D
Module D encompasses reuse, recovery and / or recycling potentials. These are shown as net flows and benefits. This relates to the avoidance of primary materials through the provision of broken stone and resulting ecological benefits from the thermal recycling of the wooden pallet and the PET barrel hoop (cf.
