<technologyDescriptionAndIncludedProcesses xml:lang="de">Der zu 100 % nutzbare Rohstoff Holz wird zerkleinert, die Holzhackschnitzel gelangen über einen Schwemmkanal zur Entwässerungsmaschine und werden dabei gereinigt. Vom Hackschnitzelsilo kommt das gereinigte Hackgut in die Faseraufbereitung, wo mittels Druckzerfaserer thermomechanisch zerfasert wird. Durch Zugabe von Wasser erhält man eine ca. 2 %-ige Fasersuspension. Der Faserstoff wird nun zuerst formiert und unter gezielter Orientierung der Holzfasern mittels neu entwickelter Doppelsieb-Entwässerungstechnologie entwässert. Die so erzeugte Fasermatte kommt in die Heißpresse mit Simultan-Schliessvorrichtung, wo sie dann unter genau kontrollierten Druck- und Temperaturverhältnissen zur Biofaser-Platte verpresst wird. Nach dem Pressen erfolgt die Klimatisierung der Platte in der Klimakammer auf ca. 4-8 % Plattenfeuchte. Abschließend werden die Platten kundenspezifisch weiterverarbeitet.

Deklarierte Einheit: 
Die vorliegende Umwelt-Produktdeklaration bezieht sich auf eine deklarierte Einheit von 1 m durchschnittliche Fundermax Biofaser mit einer Dichte von 1000 kg/m. Die Verpackung ist in der kobilanz ebenfalls bercksichtigt.</technologyDescriptionAndIncludedProcesses>
<technologyDescriptionAndIncludedProcesses xml:lang="en">The 100 % usable raw material wood is shredded, the wood chips are transported to the dewatering machine via a flushing channel and cleaned in the process. From the wood chip silo, the cleaned wood chips are sent to the fibre processing unit, where they are thermomechanically defibrated using a pressure defibrator. By adding water, an approx. 2 % fiber suspension is obtained. The pulp is now formed and then dewatered using newly developed double screen dewatering technology with targeted orientation of the wood fibers. The resulting fiber mat is then fed into the hot press with simultaneous closing device, where it is pressed into a biofiber board under precisely controlled pressure and temperature conditions. After pressing, the board is air-conditioned in the climate chamber to approx. 4-8 % board moisture. Finally, the boards are further processed according to customer specifications.

Die vorliegende Umwelt-Produktdeklaration bezieht sich auf eine deklarierte Einheit von 1 m³ durchschnittliche Fundermax Biofaser
(1000 kg/m³) produziert am Standort in St. Veit/Glan (Österreich) unter dem Markennamen Biofaser.

System boundary:
Die Ökobilanz der Biofaser-Platte beinhaltet eine cradle-to-gate-Betrachtung (Wiege bis zum Werkstor) der auftretenden Umweltwirkungen mit den Modulen C1–C4 und Modul D (A1–A3,+C,+D). Die folgenden Lebenszyklusphasen werden in der Analyse berücksichtigt:

Modul A1–A3 | Produktionsstadium
Das Produktionsstadium beinhaltet die Aufwendungen der Rohstoffversorgung (Faserholz, Phenolharz, Paraffinwachs etc.) sowie der damit verbundenen Transporte bezogen auf den Produktionsstandort in St. Veit/Glan. Innerhalb der Werksgrenzen werden die Prozessschritte zur Produktion der Biofaser-Produkte inklusive der Verpackung der Biofaser-Platten betrachtet. Der Herstellprozess wird dazu basierend auf den Primärdaten des betrachteten Standortes abgebildet. Die Bereitstellung elektrischer Energie erfolgt am Standort St. Veit/Glan über das eigene Biomasse-Blockheizkraftwerk. Zusätzlich werden Strom vom österreichischen Netz sowie Erdgas extern zugekauft.

Modul C1 | Rückbau / Abriss
Die Produkte werden manuell oder mit geringem Maschineneinsatz rückgebaut. Somit ist davon auszugehen, dass der Energiebedarf für den Rückbau der Produkte einen vernachlässigbaren Faktor darstellt, wodurch in Modul C1 keine Umweltwirkungen aus dem Rückbau der Produkte deklariert werden.

Modul C2 | Transport
Das Modul C2 beinhaltet den Transport zur Abfallbeseitigung des Produktes. Dabei ist ein Szenario von 50 km LKW-Transportdistanz angesetzt.

Modul C3 | Abfallbehandlung beim stofflichen Recycling
In Szenario 0 beinhaltet das Modul C3 die Aufwendungen für die Zerkleinerung der Produkte als Basis für das Recycling. Das Modul C3 beinhaltet die Aufwendungen der Abfallbewirtschaftung. Die Holzprodukte und mit ihnen die materialinhärenten Eigenschaften verlassen das Produktsystem als Sekundärmaterial in Modul C3. Die erwartete Wirkung durch das Hacken des Holzes wird dabei ebenfalls betrachtet.

Modul C3/1 | Abfallbehandlung bei der Energierückgewinnung
In Szenario 1 beinhaltet das Modul C3/1 die Aufwendungen für die Zerkleinerung der Produkte als Basis für das Recycling. Das Modul C3/1 beinhaltet die Aufwendungen der Abfallbewirtschaftung. Die Holzprodukte und mit ihnen die materialinhärenten Eigenschaften verlassen das Produktsystem als Sekundärbrennstoff in Modul C3/1. Die erwartete Wirkung durch das Hacken des Holzes wird dabei ebenfalls betrachtet.

Modul C4 und C4/1 | Entsorgung
Das angesetzte Szenario 0 deklariert die stoffliche Verwertung; Szenario 1 die energetische Verwertung der Produkte wodurch keine Umweltauswirkungen aus der Entsorgung der Produkte in C4 bzw. C4/1 zu erwarten sind.

Modul D | Nutzen und Lasten außerhalb der Systemgrenze beim Recycling
Im Modul D wird ein Recyclingszenario unter Berücksichtigung der Substitutionspotenziale von Sägenebenprodukten geringer Qualität deklariert.

Modul D/1 | Nutzen und Lasten außerhalb der Systemgrenze bei der Energierückgewinnung
Modul D/1 deklariert die Substitutionspotenziale für Wärme und Strom aus der energetischen Verwertung des Produktes in Modul C3/1 in Form eines europäischen Durchschnittsszenarios.</useAdviceForDataSet>
<useAdviceForDataSet xml:lang="en">Scope:
The present Environmental Product Declaration refers to a declared unit of 1 m³ average Fundermax Biofaser (1000 kg/m³) produced at the site in St. Veit/Glan (Austria) under the brand name Biofaser.

System boundary:
The life cycle assessment of the Biofaser board includes a cradle-to-gate assessment (cradle to factory gate) of the environmental impacts with modules C1–C4 and Module D (A1–A3,+C,+D). The following life cycle stages are considered in the analysis:

Module A1–A3 | Production stage
The production stage includes the inputs for raw material supply (Faserholz, Phenol resin, Paraffin wax, etc.) as well as the associated transport related to the production site in St. Veit/Glan. Within the plant boundaries, the process steps for producing the Biofaser products including the packaging of the Biofaser boards are considered. The manufacturing process is thus modeled based on the primary data of the studied site. The provision of electrical energy is supplied at the St. Veit/Glan site via the site’s own biomass-CHP plant. In addition, electricity from the Austrian grid and natural gas are externally purchased.

Module C1 | Deconstruction / Demolition
The products are deconstructed manually or with limited machine use. Therefore, the energy demand for the deconstruction of the products is negligible, hence Module C1 does not declare environmental impacts from the deconstruction of the products.

Module C2 | Transport
Module C2 includes the transport to waste disposal of the product. A scenario of 50 km truck transport distance is assumed.

Module C3 | Waste treatment for material recycling
In Scenario 0, Module C3 includes the inputs for shredding the products as the basis for recycling. Module C3 includes the expenditures for waste management. The wood products and their inherent material properties leave the product system as secondary material in Module C3. The expected effect from shredding the wood is also considered.

Module C3/1 | Waste treatment at energy recovery
In Scenario 1, Module C3/1 includes the inputs for shredding the products as the basis for recycling. Module C3/1 includes the expenditures for waste management. The wood products and their inherent material properties leave the product system as secondary fuel in Module C3/1. The expected effect from shredding the wood is also considered.

Module C4 and C4/1 | Disposal
The assumed Scenario 0 declares material recycling; Scenario 1 the energetic utilization of the products, whereby no environmental impacts from the disposal of the products in C4 or C4/1 are expected.

Module D | Benefits and burdens outside the system boundary for recycling
In Module D a recycling scenario is declared taking into account the substitution potentials of sawing by-products of lower quality.

Module D/1 | Benefits and burdens outside the system boundary for energy recovery
Module D/1 declares the substitution potentials for heat and electricity from the energy recovery of the product in Module C3/1 in the form of a European average scenario.</useAdviceForDataSet>
